Course Descriptions

Word Basics

This ninety minute to two hour session introduces new users to layout and basic features of Word.  After this course, trainees are able to produce most simple documents.  Topics include keyboard shortcuts, basic page layout, basic formatting, printing and manipulating text.

Word Intermediate

This ninety minute to two hour session takes users beyond the basic functions of Word.  The focus of this session is to make users more efficient and productive in the creation of documents by using the "word processing" features of Word.  Topics include autoformatting, clipboards, aligning text, and advanced text manipulation.

Page Setup

This ninety minute to two hour session focuses on the Page Setup and Printing features of Word.  Topics include margins and orientation, headers and footers, page breaks, and section breaks.

Styles

This two hour session teaches users the fundamentals of Word Styles.  Styles are the key to Word efficiency and productivity.  Users will learn how to create new styles as well as advanced ways to modify and utilize existing styles.

Tables

This two hour session teaches users the table features of Word.  Trainees will learn how to create, edit and format tables as well as creative uses for tables.

Tables of Contents, Tables of Authorities and Indexes

This two hour session is focused on using styles to create Tables of Contents, and using markup code to create Tables of Authorities and Indexes.

 

Document Collaboration

This two hour session covers the various document collaboration features of Word.  Topics covered include Word Markup Tools, Track Changes, Comments, Document Compare, and version control.

Merges

This two hour session teaches users the basics of Word Merges.  Topics include turning an existing document into a merge template, using data sources, selecting recipients for mail merges, and performin a merge.

Document Templates and Basic Macros

This two hour session focuses on the creation of Word Templates and the creation of simple macros.  Topics include how to create and manage templates, incorporating styles into templates, and creating simple macros.

Using Word with Time Matters

This two hour course explores the many ways that Time Matters can be used in conjunction with Time Matters.  Topics include the Time Matters Formattable Clipboard, Time Matters Merge Templates, and TM Insider.
